Time to Make the Donuts.

Have you ever made homemade donuts before?  I never have, but M. enjoyed them while growing up.  His Mom made them and it seems he's been feeling a bit nostalgic for them.  So, last night he decided to make apple cider donuts to accompany our obsession with Fall flavors (which is stronger than ever this year. I can't even tell you how much cider we've consumed this season).

The donuts were good, but not perfect in M.'s view.  We wondered if they required cake flour rather than all-purpose flour and we're certain our batch of hot oil missed the temperature mark.  If any of you have a tried-and-true recipe for donuts, please pass it along.  We're not giving this mission up just yet!
