18 Miles of Books.

On our way to Greenwich Village to scope out baby goods, S. took A. and me to the Strand Bookstore, which claims to have an astounding 18 miles of books.  Get out!  Well, I saw it and, honestly, I wouldn't bet them otherwise.  This store had a lot of freakin' books.

S., A. and I spent our time on the 2nd floor children's section, recommended to us by a nice woman/mother when asked where I might be able to quietly feed A.  S. found some books for nieces while  A. and I gazed in absolute amazement at the ga-zillions of books around us - except for the one children's book I've been searching for:  Lamont the Lonely Monster by Dean Walley.

I was floored to learn that this 18-mile book mecca didn't have this book that I - ugh - gave away as a child and am searching to own again (but not for the $50+ Amazon offers it for).  The bookstore gave me some leads.  And I left thanking S. for introducing us to the store and expecting that M. and I would return with A., maybe year after year, for a special book-buying treat.  That's how much I like this place - enough to quite possibly make it a special tradition.
