Columbus Day Party.

Do you ever have one of those days that are way better than you ever anticipated when you woke up in the morning?  Columbus Day was definitely one of those days. Of course, we had the thrill of seeing baby D-2.  And that meant we also saw the M. family again (B., K. and O.), since they're our go-to with A. for all things midwife/hospital/baby-related (and, yep, that includes the big moment! We refer to them as our "Number 1").  That was a total hit. A. barely looked-up when I said goodbye and she pretty much continued with her play when M. and I arrived to pick her up.  I think Mama K. took some pictures of the play-date.  Must post soon.

Afterwards, we attempted nap time and instead found ourselves having a Columbus Day celebration with friends R., her son J., her mom and in-laws, and M. and B., and their son J. (the nap wasn't to be had; the neighbors were installing new windows).  A. was thrilled to be with her long-time friends.  And she and J. loved playing with J.'s toys.  (And don't even get me started on the vast assortment of insanely delicious desserts that were offered to us; O.M.G.)

Afterwards, we had the M. family - M., B., and J. - over for a pizza dinner (R. and J.were ready to wind down for the day). And we were grateful for this visit because soon the M. family will be moving to Texas.  Sigh.  And next week, they leave for a two-week trip to Japan.  Double-Sigh.

The kids lived it up . . . right up until pajama time.  And papa M. (J.'s papa), the photographer, taught us a little bit about our camera, while mama B. shared her ice cream with the littles.  How I'll miss these kind, kind friends we've made.  But we'll enjoy them while we can!
