Handle With Care.
Friday, October 15, 2010 at 03:22PM So, you know those days when you wake up and the day is way crazier than you would've liked? Yeah, well, that was Thursday (so unlike Columbus Day!). I struggled through the night with a terrible sore throat and A. came down with a serious cold. Add to that a missed music class, all-day long rain, and some intended repair work gone nowhere pending Plan B (we were informed that some living room cable work required the expertise of an electrician and, also, that our fireplace is inoperable, never mind the, er, dead bird that the chimney sweep extracted from it. Um, that seems unlucky, right?).
Poor A. she barely managed a nap on Thursday. But her spirits were high and they still are (this morning she happily described her entire breakfast to me and cheerfully told M. as he left for work, "see you soon!"). There's not very much you can do for a small cold-stricken child who is unable to blow her nose, except sympathize, give her steamy baths and showers, and provide extra cuddles. And that we did. Every time she woke up (three times, to be exact), one of us would rock her back to sleep, hopefully clearing her little stuffed passageways (doing that, she managed a good 12 hours of z's last night). And we're not done. She's napping now and we've just experienced one intermission that required some rocking and love. A.'s back to snoozing her way out of this bug - I hope!
