Reflections.
Sunday, December 19, 2010 at 09:28PM Last night, we made a quick trip across the Potomac River to the National Harbor. Destination: the Gaylord Convention Center and Hotel, which, for now, is beautifully lit for the holidays.
A. was entranced, especially with her own image, reflecting back at her through the giant Christmas bulbs on the trees lining the hotel lobby.
The National Harbor is relatively new. And last year when we visited, it was much less active without as many visitors as this year. Last evening, the place was hopping. And A. could only take so much before becoming totally overwhelmed, tired, and unwilling to walk (fun), and also unwilling to be held or pushed in a stroller . . . (don't we love moments like these with our children?) And we knew it was *game over* as soon the thumb went in the mouth and the free hand went to her belly, A.'s very serious sign for "I'm tired" . . . even though it's barely 6PM. Shucks.
And so, we thanked our beautiful surroundings for entertaining us for a short bit and made off before our girl turned into a pumpkin.
