"TOO LITTLE MOON!"
Monday, December 20, 2010 at 09:06AM I'm game for playing and doing most anything with A. But I have to admit that these days I am not enjoying one of her favorite activities, which - in her opinion - should involve all bystanders' participation: drawing. Yes, drawing. I can't draw worth a darn. And I think M. has encouraged her interest in others' drawings because he can draw quite well (lucky!). This morning, I swallowed my pride and sat down for a, grrrrrrr, drawing session (how bad could I be?). At A.'s request, I drew a moon (yes, I think it's backwards. Remember, I'm no artist.)
And her response? "TOO LITTLE MOON!" Um, okay (no, I didn't stomp my feet and shout, "well, then you draw the moon!"). And so I drew a larger moon. Still not impressed. So I offered: "A bird?" No. "A butterfly?" No. Then, A. asked: "Thomas?" Me: "As in the train?" A.: "Yes." Oh, yikes. Let's just put it this way: My Thomas was no Thomas and A. quickly became bored and instead asked to watch Thomas on TV. Sigh. So I'm not a cartoonist. We'll just have to focus on other artistic ventures (or I'll have to take a drawing class. Pronto.)
Follow-up Note: later this morning, we decided to use our crayons to draw on a very large cardboard box we received recently. That was fun. Maybe I just need to draw on a larger scale . . .
