Vacation Day 4, Part I: Surf's Up!
Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at 09:11PM SO. We're currently vacationing in North Carolina's lovely Outer Banks. And if you've been following the news, Hurricane Earl, presently a Category 4 hurricane, is 1000 miles away from us and carries the potential of making landfall right smack in the middle of our Corolla, NC, vacation come Thursday. The (obvious) bad news: vacation may end early (update: our friends R., P., and J. were evacuated from an island two hours south of us, boo). The good news: presently, the weather is gorgeous and the waves are amazing.
I included the first two pictures from this evening just to give some scale of the waves. The others are from this afternoon while M. and A. enjoyed the (hurricane-friendly) warm Atlantic (four days into our trip, A. decidedly loves being held in the close-to-shore waves). I, too, am soaking up the rays, hoping for the best possible weather forecast. Fingers crossed!
