There's Always Room for Dessert.
Friday, September 10, 2010 at 08:19PM Thursday, A. and I visited the Upper King Street farmers' market, a much smaller version of the Saturday market at City Hall and collected for ourselves five beautiful peaches (and a cinnamon-peach scone for the papa).

The next day, I went to work on these little gems. While A. napped, I blanched, peeled and sliced them for a season-appropriate crumble. Concerned that I was maybe short a peach, I added to the mix a nice, giant-sized apple. Add to the fruit 1/4 cup of melted butter in a 350-degree heated 8x8 dish, 2 tablespoons of sugar and a teaspoon of cinnamon, and you're halfway to dessert heaven. Then, pile on top if it a mixture of 1 cup flour, 1 cup sugar, 1/4 teaspon of salt, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/2 cup of milk. Bake for 45 minutes.
Top with delicious, rich French Vanilla ice cream (Trader Joe's is my personal favorite). Serve to dear husband. Receive compliment: "C., this is the best dessert you've ever made. Add it to the rotation." Success!
