Saturday Morning.
Saturday, September 11, 2010 at 03:22PM We haven't abandoned our Saturday morning routine. Oh, no. Not with the beautiful September weather upon us! Today, we hit our favorite breakfast stop (as evidenced by A. with her own donut) . . .
Then, we decided to make a run to Market Square so I could collect more peaches for another cobbler and apples for sauce (not to mention A. enjoyed a second breakfast, munching on the many apple and peach samples available to the market-goers). I spent every single dollar, save for 10 cents (if I added one more apple to my bag, I would've been short, yikes!) . . .
And by pure chance, as we walked down King Street towards the farmers' market, we discovered that Alexandria was hosting its annual art fair. Lovely! What a treat! And I collected cards from a few artists that caught our eye (we do, after all, have many o' bare wall in our new home).
Then began the walk home. After chancing to meet a kind-of neighbor (someone who lives a few blocks from us and struck up conversation with M. because they were each wearing Boston sports apparel), learning more about the local schools (his wife is on the school board), A. finally reached her stroller-limit. And so we set her free!
She walked and chirped and chatted. And frequently stopped to play with acorns (M. tried explaining that we should save them for the squirrels). And then it was home again, home again for lunch, nap, and the rest of a never-long enough Saturday. Happy weekend, all!
