Ready, Set, Ride.

Here. We. Go.  Where, you ask?  To grandmother's house, of course.  This morning, with my parents at the helm, we set off on the 8-hour trip from D.C. to Detroit to spend some time with family and friends. And this time, I was confident A. would endure the trip better than our last few over-the-road adventures (she is, after all, older, more active, and now understandably prone to unhappy, seat-belt strapped-in restlessness).  This time, I had entertainment.

In addition to the books (we checked out 22 of them from the library yesterday), snacks, drinks, conversations, stickers, songs and shaker toys, we went for broke and decided to introduce A. to videos. Via one of those headrest-television thingys.  And because of this, I confess:  today, I loved technology.  I suddenly loved Elmo, vintage Mickey Mouse, and all things looney and tooney.  I loved the year 2010.  I loved that A. - after we read all the books, looked at all the trucks, played with all the toys, took a nap, etc., etc. - was riveted and occupied for a portion of her long trip by something other than boredom-induced discomfort.  Yes.
