Parents' Night Out.
Monday, January 17, 2011 at 02:20PM On Saturday, our friends, the J. family - R., P., and toddler J., hosted a housewarming party at their new lovely home. They scheduled the party to begin at 3PM, thoughtfully thinking of all their friends with children who would need to return home for an astute bedtime. But, ironically . . . it was the people with the children who stayed the longest! Including our family! And how could we not? There were toys and other kids! A. was in her glory! And all the playtime meant downtime for the mamas and papas.
(Yes, you guessed it: that's A. - drawing again.)
Except for the moment when we all excitedly gathered in the kitchen to watch with the utmost fascination a remote-controlled mouse . . .
Yes, we're all that easily entertained. The kids loved it. And I found myself wondering aloud, "why don't we have remote controlled toys?!" Kid-fun aside, the gathering was lovely. And I - unabashedly - parked myself at the food table, gobbling down brownies and loads of crispy vegetables and dip (I'm a feign for veggies right now; after learning this, R. proclaimed, "you're having a boy!"). Thank you, J. family, for a lovely evening. We can't wait for the next night out!
