Paint, Dance, Picnic.
Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 02:26PM What were we thinking, lazing about the house - not even moving to get outside - the last two days?! Why do I ask? Today we are seriously committed to the indoors, without any freedom of choice, because of an overnight-sleety, icy storm. And, a third day into no-outdoor time means A. and I are feeling pretty restless. You know we're running out of ideas when A. starts imitating her mama and her mama's big belly.
Before A. resorted to mocking her mum, we managed to paint on a wall-mounted chalkboard/easel that Santa gave her. I loved this activity. And let me tell you, I so prefer poster paints and regular ol' paper to water-color paint and fingerpaints. So much more straightforward, less ingredients, less mess (I'm sure A. would opt for the finger painting). I think we'll turn A.'s finished, mostly-red product into Valentine's art.
After our paint-fest, we danced. And we danced a lot. Like, we danced up an entire appetite. So, we enjoyed an indoor picnic . . . Yum.
And don't be fooled by that measly half-sandwich on my plate. I ate TWO entire sandwiches. And thank you, K., for sharing this sandwich recipe with me. Friends, it is the best: prepared like a grilled-cheese, but filled with havarti with dill, red onions and avocado slices. Oh, yum. Can you see why I couldn't stop at one?

For those who have wondered, there truly is no pillow under A.'s shirt. That's pretty much her belly sticking out there. Pretty impressive, eh?
