E.'s Eight-Months Old!

Our girl E. turns 8-months today! Where on earth has the time gone? Here she is in all her baby glory, playing in the basement while sister A. naps.

As of today, E. finally has her two bottom teeth cutting through. She crawls (though she slithers along sometimes on the slippery hardwood floors, but she's determined to get to where she wants to go, e.g., the heat registers, the corners of the stairs [ugh!], the occasional loose crumb . . . ). And she also sits up on her own.

I wish I could pinpoint when the crawling/sitting thing happened, but I'm never sure what to use as an official date. When she first balances on her bottom after we sit her up? Or, my preference, when she moves to a sitting position on her own? When she scoots from point A to point B or when she is on all fours, completely crawling? If the earlier are the case, I would say two months ago. But if we go with the latter - again, my preference - in the last few weeks, between 7 and 8 months.

Most importantly - knock on wood - she's happy, happy, HAPPY and healthy. She gets the utmost joy out of watching A. (though A. doesn't always share E.'s affection, sigh. Maybe it's E.'s sudden interest in A.'s toys that is causing a bit of a division?). She falls asleep easily and naps nicely (she even overcomes a missed morning nap with grace), but we still have a stubborn wake-up in the middle of the night. We're counting down until that goes away. And, E. has just made our lives fun and joyful. As is often said of all children, we can't imagine life without her.

Weird how I don't care even a little. It is really really strange. I care about everything, even online writing
