Happy Halloween, '11!
Tuesday, November 1, 2011 at 02:20PM We hope everyone had a fun, fantastic, and memorable Halloween this year. This may have been one of my favorite Halloweens ever (save for my cherished memories of trick-or-treating with dear friend L., chaperoned by my dear Grandpa). Per her emphatic request (with absolutely no hinting or suggestions from me), A. was a crocodile. ROAR!
And if the shoes aren't a dead giveaway, E. was The Wizard of Oz's Dorothy. There she is, teetering on the porch (quick! take a picture!). And there are her shoes. And see her dog . . .? And sitting with Sister! (For those of you who remember A.'s Little Bo Peep costume in '09, does the dress look familiar?!)
The night before, we managed to eek out some carved pumpkins. A. painted a few, too.
Then, after a few photo opportunities, we actually left our house and neighborhood trick-or-treaters in favor of Lee Street, which is closed off for Halloween and replete with the most splendidly decorated homes and gobs of adorable trick-or-treaters - many A.'s size, some E.'s size, and even several adults. (Our pictures don't do the event any justice. When it was completely dark out, the street was packed and the neat homes appeared especially haunting!)
We saw one extremely impressive "Wicked Witch of the West" and M. heard her cackle, looking at E., "look, there's Dorothy!" Our favorites of the evening: either the two adults dressed as Bert and Ernie from Sesame Street or the Japanese-inspired sumo-wrestling Dad/Son and geisha Mom/Daughters.
E. took it all in from the stroller and her papa's arms. A. couldn't get enough of the festivities, asking to go to "more houses!" And she insisted on trying to each every new piece of candy the moment she received it. Lee Street, we can't wait to celebrate Halloween with you next year! What a fun tradition we may have begun. Even today, A. keeps saying, "it's Halloween!" Clearly, the holiday has left its mark on our little crocodile!

Adorable! And E is the spitting image of A - don't you think? You're looking fabulous, BTW!

Awww, you made me cry..I have such fond memories of trick or treating with you. I'll always think of you on Halloween! I wish we lived closer so our kids could trick or treat together but I am glad they are getting to build fun memories of their own on Halloween. Love you all!!
