National Arboretum, Fall '11.
Sunday, November 6, 2011 at 11:10AM Lesson of this Sunday: make the best of each and every day because you never know what the next has in store for you. In our case, we made the very, very best of a gorgeous Saturday morning by meeting up with Uncle R. and visiting the National Arboretum (see our gallery of pictures here).
Thank goodness, as this beautiful Sunday started with our dear A. sick in her bed, waking in the wee hours of the morning, twice. E., not sick, asked to be fed twice in the night, leading to many, many wake-ups for this family. We are tired. But ever-so thankful for taking advantage of yesterday.
For the second time in a week (our Queen St. and West St. playgrounds excepted), A. was treated to expansive land on which to run and explore. She enjoyed looking at the algae pools, the Fall-blooming rose garden, the Arboretum's tall grass and resident grasshoppers.
Our walk culminated in a picnic on the grounds where we enjoyed a delicious lunch of sandwich mixte from a D.C. Parisian-based bakery, Paul. Just looking at the next picture makes me want one of these cheese, ham, and butter sandwiches for lunch. Now.
Instead, we'll reflect on our lovely Saturday and make sure our A. gets adequate rest, toast, and clear fluids. For now, she is fever-less and seems in good spirits. A day in will do us all well. After last night, we need to take it easy!

Look at beautiful E in her awesome hat. I can't believe how fast she has grown. And, by the way now I want her sweater too.:) Hope you all are on the mend. Jack has a permanent cough, and John a nasty runny nose that never seems to want to go away. I'm learning to live with it. It's a VERY hard pill for me to sallow-HA. I guess having a kid in preschool will teach you that lesson, fast.
I LOVE seeing that hat on E now! And so fun that you went to Paul. :)
