38 Weeks (Stop Counting. Game Reset.)

Gah.  Last Thursday marked week 38 in this waiting-for-baby game.  It seems that I hit 37 weeks (i.e., "full-term") and the clock slowed way down.  It's as if 37 weeks meant that the baby would come today.  Or tomorrow.  And then I realized that, really, this baby could arrive today or in another month at 41 weeks and 5 days (the latest the midwife will allow me to go without induction, a late date for which I am so grateful, despite my eagerness).  Both A. and I were making our best efforts at urging the baby's arrival by sitting on our exercise balls . . .

Then, here I am, not waiting at all and barely even recognizing that I'm pregnant, at 38 weeks and 2 days (I mean, I always take self-portraits in bathroom mirrors.  Don't you?).

In an effort to defeat my aforementioned impatience, I'm trying to be upbeat and encourage myself to think, "What's the hurry?  This baby will come when s/he is good and ready and when s/he chooses his/her birthday." And with this attempt at upbeat-baby thought, I'm trying to clear my mind of the waiting game until February 24th and just enjoy each passing day with A. and M (i.e., my "game reset").  And we will be good and ready for the baby when s/he decides to join us. Yes.  That's the spirit!  (Um, check back with me next week and see how I feel, okay?)

One more thing - the last two midwife appointments have been, well, boring and uneventful.  And that's a good thing.  Just very simply a weigh-in, blood-pressure taking, heart-listening, small-taking visit with our favorite baby-deliverer, Karen King (even A. loves her, chanting before each appointment "Karen King!  Karen King!" who actually overheard A. doing just that in the hallway of her practice.  Then, as we left that same appointment, A. gushed "love Karen King!").  Until next week . . .

Where are you in this pic? It's a different place than all the other pictures you've taken of you and your belly. I love the door color and tile color. I can barley stand it...i wished i looked as cute as you do pregnant. I have began stalking your blog and facebook for baby news. I'm thinking of you everyday. Good luck Coire. I can't wait to hear the good news...and the name.:)

So funny, Emily re: the bathroom! That's our slightly-bigger but still tiny master bathroom (the other pics have been in our basement bathroom). I have to give the previous owners credit for the tile. I will say this - I barely fit in that shower right now without knocking into tiles left and right! You're so kind. I feel like a tired, worn out buffalo. I'm also stalking myself for baby news. The suspense is KILLING me. Why does this take so long? And why do the days have to slow down so dramatically?! If I could move a little better, I could pass the time better ;) I hope you and yours are doing great. If you have any family-of-four advice, pass it on! (BTW, STILL working on names! SO HARD!)
