Biding Our Time.

Today is going something like this:  TIC-TOC.  TIC-TOC.  TIC-TOC (times 5,000,000,000).  It's just one of those baby-waiting days! M. is working from home.  My mom is keeping entertained with A.

And we're also putting some finishing touches on the baby's space.  There's the recently-outfitted cradle that was mine when I was a baby, carefully placed in our main living space.  I replaced the original mattress with an organic mattress and lined it with an all-cotton bumper.  M. updated the hardware locking it into place.

My mom, the other day, started assembling festive paper chains to accompany the "Welcome Baby Driscoll!!!!" banner that I constructed with the design-input of A.

As for the baby's room, well, that's a work in progress.  For the first few months, s/he (like A.), will sleep in our room in a co-sleeper, nestled next to our bed.  But we've taken care to set up a space for him/her in our guestroom (which may actually become his/her room).  To update looks that were so-recently A.'s, I purchased a wool rug that ties together the existing decor with the baby decor, a small bureau of drawers and a few wonderfully luxurious, yummy, giant muslin blankets (one of which is pictured; that's it there, with the happy, bright stars.  The other is a simple, solid white, which will go to the hospital with us).

I also hung a wee bit of art, and my mom and dad contributed the much, much-loved Fensted Sheep mobile (have you ever looked at Fensted mobiles?  Absolutely fantastic.  I want to hang them all over the house!  Just "Google" Fensted and/or look up their mobiles available through Amazon).

The crib-space is cozy.  Ideally, the kiddos will double up and share a room sometime soon.  But this will work for now (aided by a "sleeping" area that has been designated for the baby on each one of our four floors, also designed to help this mama and papa avoid running up and down stairs constantly!).  We'll continue to make little changes to our house, all in celebration and anticipation of this baby's nearing arrival.  Get here SOON, baby!!!
