Heading Home!
Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at 01:38PM Today, E. left Virginia Hospital Center and we headed off for home. Here we are happily dressing her for the outside world, biding our time as the hospital does its check-out thing, and finally placing little E. in our car for her first four-wheeled ride home.
I'm not going to lie: under happy circumstances such as these, I actually enjoyed my stay at the hospital. Seriously. This place had the best crushed ice ever. I loved the unlimited apple juice and the room service (and never missed an opportunity to add a cup of sherbet to my meal). I loved just lying around and watching bad television. I knew A. was in good hands and, even though my drug-free and complication-free labor and delivery didn't require any medical attention or post-delivery care (but for a motrin or 2 and a few obligatory blood-draws), I appreciated the polite check-ins from the nursing staff and our midwife. Call me crazy, fine. But that doesn't mean I wasn't more thrilled to leave, E. in arms, and start life as a family of four. I was so excited to get our girl home!
