We Did It. We Left The House.

Wew.  No, really.  Wew.  We. Did. It.  Yesterday, A., E., and I left the safety of our home and hit the streets of Old Town Alexandria, taking a few-block walk to the Rosemont neighborhood to visit mama K., A. (who just turned 2!), and new-baby G. (born Feb. 4 - in the car!!!!!).  Sadly, I don't have a single picture of our first outing, which included grown-up conversations, shrieking and happy 2-year olds, and sleeping and cooing infants (it was enough that I packed diapers; a camera was out of the question!).

Then, there was the trip home (yes, all of this went down in the stroller; A. happily hopped in, going to and fro-.  Wew again.).  It was all good.  Until we arrived home and discovered that "mommy horsey" was missing.  Oh, rats.  We'd have to turn our wheels around and find the plastic, Fisher-Price horse.  thankfully, we found her half-way back to Mama K.'s house.  What. A. Relief.

Feeling super confident and excited about today's 76-degree temperature, I decided that we would make it outdoors this morning.  No visits or anything grand requiring a diaper bag or stroller.  No.  This morning, we just hit the pavement and took a good long walk.  And A., to my happiness/joy/appreciation/relief, followed all of my directives, keeping close by, though free on her own two ready-to-skip-hop-jump feet.  Oh, she was so happy!  And not just with her outdoor fun; she was digging her new threads, compliments of Aunt A. and Uncle R.

E., meanwhile, did what E. does best:  slept.  And this last picture is the best that I could do to offer proof that we, too, were along for A.'s journey (as if I'd send her out on her own, right?).  I think E. is going through a growth spurt.  She's eating every hour (except at night, but she has added a feeding just two hours after her one late night feeding), helping me burn those pregnancy lbs (um, there were a lot of those and we have lots of work to do!) and sleeping non-stop (I'm not complaining; look at me emptying the dishwasher, cleaning the floors, and making dinner!  Woo-woo!).  Ah, happy day!
