National Arboretum.
Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 08:29PM Several weeks ago, we set out in our car without a plan. I suggested that we check out the National Arboretum and, so it was, we arrived there in no time. And it was great. (The columns, here, are transplants from a former section of the Capitol Building.)
We especially loved the bonsai trees. Many of the trees on display are shockingly OLD. As in, hundreds of years old! The sign below indicates that the tree it accompanies (pictured above it) has been in *training* since the 1600's!!!!
And A. especially loved the stones (she is really into rocks these days) and the koi. And walking or running. There was mighty great space for running!
The National Arboretum is quite large. Larger than Meadowlark in Vienna. But on the day we visited, very little was in bloom. We're looking forward to visiting as more blooms emerge and the landscape changes a bit (e.g., when some of the seemingly large fountains are running; that will be fun for A.!)
