Tummy Time Takes Time.
Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 08:54PM Babies. At one time, they loved sleeping on their tummies, right? (We actually - under very close supervision - allowed E. to nap on her belly when we first brought her home; that no longer interests her.) But times have changed and now, "back is best" as they (i.e., medical professionals) rightfully and with much justification say. And now, with this shift in sleep-style, we parents are advised to give our babies plenty of "tummy time." Thing is, our back-sleeping babies don't exactly like it.
We have to remind ourselves to give E. a little tummy time. She's so content to just lie on her back, smiling or sleeping that we often, well, just leave her there! I was constantly placing A. on her belly, propping her up with pillows and surrounding her with books. Remember?
And now A. has taken her own experience and is trying to help her sister out.
If only E. could hold on a little longer while on the floor. By the time A. gathered up more cards for E. to look at, E. had enough. She was done on the floor. So it's up to the mama and papa to remember to give E. some daily belly time. And no time, she'll be rolling from her back to her belly and - only then - maybe she'll enter the big-kid world of tummy sleeping.
