Mystery Virus. Great.

Yes, we have been M.I.A.!  Really, it should be because my parents have been here since last Wednesday and we're having so much fun, we can't spare a single moment to post (we are having a great amount of fun, though, but just not doing all that I had hoped!).  Unfortunately, Miss A. has been fighting some virus. The virus consists of a fever that hit over (yes, over) an exceedingly-scary 104 at times (then broke and dropped to a scary 95.2) and is finally petering out and a rash.  Nope, not strep.  Nope, not Fifth's Disease (though, at times, she's had the slapped-cheek look characteristic of this virus).  Nope, not Roseola.  A mystery. According to the pediatrican (who we've seen twice), it may simply be the-new-to-the-area-virus virus.  Um.  Great.

That said, A. is in incredibly great spirits.  Her appetite is low, but improving.  Her sad, pitiful lethargic periods have come to pass (I hope).  Her rash still looks a bit angry, but isn't bothering her.  And yesterday and today she enjoyed some patio time, gardening with Grandma T.

And E., thankfully, appears to be unaffected by this virus.  I want nothing more than for A. to completely recover and for E. to not suffer from whatever A. has suffered from.  Here's E.  These days, she's enjoying fresh air, her new hat, and A.'s Elroy the Elephant, to whom she chatters incessantly.

In the midst of all this sad viral stuff, we really are enjoying our time with my parents who have been an immense help.  I'm not sure where we'd be without them right now (much more tired and grouchy).

Plus, my dear, dear friend and roommate from law school, S. and her husband were in town this weekend and M. and I enjoyed our first double-date sans children since before A. was born (SHOCKING, I know).  It was mad fun, spending three hours over a delicious dinner at Vermillion, just a few blocks from our home.  And nevermind the entire Friday afternoon I spent with S., just the two of us.  That was just silly fun.  Why must they live on the west coast, with us on the east?  Sigh.

A. could be worse, but she's on the up and up and she's coping beautifully.  I hope in no time to be back in the saddle again, taking the little ones to the park (where, no doubt, A. has been exposed to increasing numbers of germies, but oh, well.  Kindergarten, here we come!).

Oh, no! Ida suffered the same thing and it remains a mystery virus to this day. It KNOCKED her out! But, my other two didn't catch it, so good news for E. I hope A continues to feel better. Hang in there. It is HARD having sick kids. And, I must say I LOVE the picture of your mom and dad reading to A...and you! Your dad's face is priceless. XOXOXO
