Memorial Day Weekend '11 - Sunday.
Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at 03:10PM Oh, we got it right this time! Sunday morning, M. suggested that we take a short trip to Burke Lake, Virginia. It's a lovely park filled with greenspace, a lake, playgrounds and all things loved by little people and big people. It was a seriously serene morning and we were spot on this time around (take that, cranky ol' zoo!).
A. loved the lake and the baby geese she discovered.
She loved ascending the playground climbing structure.
E. appreciated the fresh air, relaxing and periodically snoozing as babies do.
A. took to exploring sticks and logs, eventually tripping on one of the many protruding tree roots as her eyes were looking everywhere but the ground. That's okay. We just brushed the dirt off of her hand.
During our visit we learned that Burke Lake is home to a carousel and a operating train for children and adults to ride. Serious, serious stuff that definitely beckons are prompt return. What. A. Treat.
