River Farm.

Two weeks ago and the Saturday before Easter Sunday, we made an impromptu trip to River Farm, just a few miles from our house.  It was formerly owned by President George Washington (and almost sold to the Russians to be used as a retreat way back in the 30's or so).  Now (and probably then), it is resplendent with beautiful flowers, trees, and all things beautiful in nature (See more pictures here).

A. enjoyed running down the hill from the house to the Potomac River.  She loved sifting pebbles with her hands.  She liked the big trees and spotting birds.  And she spent some time exploring the magical children's garden.

You can picnic here, volunteer to garden, take classes, and even purchase plants here.  Not to mention, the grounds appear to hose fancy shindigs like weddings and what not (what a beautiful location for a wedding!).  I'm excited to bring the girls and some of our friends some weekday for a picnic and children's-garden fun.  And for you potential visitors, I'm going to drag you here, too!
