Mother's Day '11.

Happy Mother's Day, Mamas!  Or, to be fair, happy Mother's Day to all of you who - at one time or in one way or another - mother.  I hope you had a lovely, lovely Sunday with those you love most.  I did.  And here are some snapshots of those lovable ones taken yesterday during our celebration-o'-mom.

The day was lovely.  While I didn't sleep in (the day before, I told the woman who cuts my hair that my one request was to sleep in; frankly, it's just not possible.  With these two children, all hands must be on deck! And if I stayed in bed, the day would have been wasted, indeed.), I woke up to a fresh bouquet of peonies (chosen by A.) and buttermilk waffles and a promise of future spa treatments (ah!).  And my request to enjoy the National Mall on the sunny, exception Sunday was fulfilled.

I love the National Mall.  I love that this giant park is almost our backyard. I love how green it is.  I love its visitors.  I love its events.  And I love how much A. (and eventually E.) loves raking her hands over its pebbled paths, running on the grass, and exploring and enjoying all its offerings.  Thank you M., A., and E. for such a wonderful day.  Just being with you and the mama of this family made it the best day ever!
