Watch Our Garden . . . Survive.
Sunday, June 26, 2011 at 08:11AM (This is another one of those "knock-on-wood" posts!) When my parents last visited, you may recall, my mom planted a flurry of flowers on our back patio. They undoubtedly started out quite lovely. The question was whether they would survive my garden-inexperienced oversight. And the answer is . . .
Yes! Our flowers are alive! (Mom, are you proud?!) And they're growing and multiplying and blooming just fine. Each weekday morning during E.'s first nap, A. and I spend time on the patio. A. usually draws with chalk, collects stones, or helps me water. And besides watering, I weed, dead-head, pluck out dead leaves, and sweep our patio (I'm so into keeping my little beds weed-free that I'm compelled to pull weeds wherever I go. It's become kind of an odd urge). Our mornings spent in our modest garden are paying off. But there's still plenty of summer to go. Let's see where we are in another month!
For those wondering, our garden consists of impatiens (that's not a typo; I know I've had many lately!), day lillies, super petunias, jasmine trees, a clematis, marigolds, boxwoods, miniature dahlia, and one plant whose name I just can't recall (it's a perennial and somewhat bushy and sprouts purple and white flowers. Anyone? Anyone?).
