Rock Before You Roll.
Thursday, July 21, 2011 at 11:47AM Before we packed our bags, hit the road, then returned and readied our home for visitors, we enjoyed some time doing our usual thang, so-to-speak. The Monday before our trip, dear friend E. agreed to watch our sleeping girls while M. and I - gasp - went to a concert.

Yeah, like a rock concert (to see the Canadian group Sloan). That was fun. Like, date-with-no-kids fun. And then we had the good fortune of E. staying over and spending most of the next day with us. Thanks, E.! And while visiting, she put her photo skills to work and snapped some fun ones of us on our little patio.
Then there's the chalk-tracing of Miss A. That was fun (thank you, R. for the idea!).
After this laid-back visit, it was time to pack up the family for a Fourth of July spent in Michigan. Since I'm anti-clutter, anti-extra stuff, and anti-overflowing car, the goal: get everyone's clothing into one medium-sized suitcase, toiletries and one change of clothing in a small piece of luggage, a backpack filled with diapering supplies to last past one week, a bag with cool-weather jackets, and one umbrella stroller. Add to that a miniature bag with diapers to rest beneat E.'s carseat and a book-and-toy bag to rest beneath A.'s feet. And we. did. it. Woo. (And still brought things that went unused. Challenge No. 2 lies ahead: summer beach vacation. Designing our trim packing plan now!)
