E. Fix.
Monday, August 1, 2011 at 03:15PM I'm taking a break from our July back-posts to give you a strictly-E. update. She's been particularly fun to photograph and play with these days. She's quite "talkative" and she's all about grabbing everything in sight (e.g., my neck, hair, glasses, any fabric, a plate of food . . . ) and kicking her legs with wild abandon. Just see for yourself.
At E.'s four-month appointment (which was practically 3 weeks overdue, oops), she measured long and lean: 27" long and 14lbs. Lenghtwise, she's growing out of A.'s baby summer clothes, despite her lanky limbs and little belly. We joke that she's now practically as long as A. is tall.
Besides grabbing and talking and kicking, E. continues to mouth just about anything she can: fingers, cheeks, necks, toys, furniture, blinking lights on activity mats . . . (oh, and that's her with her gal-friend, G. G., too, loves to chew. Sometimes, they chew on each other.)
E. is a big fan of throwing her toys. If she doesn't want one, she's happy to reject it with a defiant toss. Like on this particular day.
She also has a sense of humor (she did this, not us).
We've recently introduced her to what one acquaintance dubbed the "circle of neglect" and it's a hit with Miss E. (and justifies the storage of such a giant, plastic hunk of fun).
She's not a fan of big crowds or strangers talking to her (e.g., If you're not well-acquainted with our E., give her a moment. Instant babble with her is sure to trigger a trembling lower lip; and A. - our party girl - loves Jazz in the Sculpture Garden on Friday nights. E. most certainly does not!).
And she's recently become quite the belly sleeper. Rolling onto her back has become a source of frustration for her, even though she officially did the belly-to-back rollover on July 3. And she would fuss something awful when she would wind up on her belly in bed. We couldn't keep up with her, though, and she has adapted. So well, in fact, that she slept 16 hours the other night (as M. says, "that's more than mama and papa sleep in three days!" and I chimed in, "combined!")
And sister A. LOVES. LOVES. LOVES her baby. She will, in fact, tell you that E. is "my baby!" And she prides herself on singing to E. and handing her every possible toy within room's reach.
So, that's our E. For now. As you mama and papas know, these little ones change by the minute. Who knows what our girl holds in store for us tomorrow: sitting up? crawling? eating solids (soon!)? We'll keep you posted!
