SSH Visit, Day 2: The National Mall.
Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 09:24AM I was looking forward to this particular day since S. made plans to visit with S. and H. Of course there would be so much to do for S. and her family. The possibilities were endless. And we ultimately decided that we would travel together to the Air & Space Museum, maybe walk on the Mall together, then the girls and I would return home while our dear friends paid a visit to the White House.
Oh, I wish I had a picture that S. took of her kids in front of the White House (S., can you e-mail one to me? I'd like to add it to this post!). I mean, what's a visit to our house if you don't visit the White House? And more kudos to S. and H. for powering through all the walking that D.C. demands of its tourists. Another day and another few miles logged by these (granted, already-active and up-to-the-task!) kids. And this day was followed by a dinner - again, which we walked to - compliments of S. (seriously, S. took care of us more than we took care of her. She's an amazing guest and friend and I'm not sure what that says about our hosting skills!).
Then, it was back home where the N. family - like the previous night - retired for the night by 10PM (visiting is exhausting, yes?!). And our plans were set for the next day: take it easy early on and prepare for a big, fun night at Jazz in the Sculpture Garden!
