Way Back in July: SSH Visit!

After we returned from our trip to Michigan, dear friends S. and kids S. and H. came to D.C. It was an exciting trip - the first time kids S. and H. would come to our home. And the longest I think I've ever been able to visit with S. since we were college roommates! And I just knew A. would have a blast with the kiddos. And she certainly did. The kids kicked off their first whole day together by playing dress-up and gettin' their groove on to the televised music channel.

Then, I was so excited to introduce the kids to our Wii (though both had played Wii in the past). I thought it might be the perfect past-time when at the house waiting for my kids to wake-up from their naps. I think the S. and H. liked it - plus, it proved to be an exhausting work-out! (And, yes.  They were boxing each other. I said to them, "I'm sure your mom will [not] thank me for this game selection . . .")

Once Miss E. graced us with her post-morning nap presence, the N. family seriously very patiently waited for my girls and I to get ready and make it out the door to our neighborhood pool (like, I was impressed with how patient S. and H. were - it took me forever to mobilize). The pool was a hit, then it was home to avoid incoming rains for some more naps, down time, dinner time (compliments of S., who made everyone a gourmet selection of quesadillas, no lie), and rock-collecting time.

And the day didn't end there! Once my kiddos made it off to bed, I wanted to take S., S., and H. to the water for dessert and an evening stroll.  Her kids were total rock stars, walking the 1 mile to the waterfront, where they enjoyed ice cream, sightseeing (there was a particular musician they liked), and a trolley ride home

Wew! Day one, I think, was a success. And were planning day two and looking forward to the next adventure: the National Mall and a dinner out the following day.  Fun with S.-H.-S. to be continued . . . !
