Friendship Firehouse Festival '11.
Sunday, August 7, 2011 at 11:26AM The first Saturday in August each year boasts the sweet and small Friendship Firehouse Festival in Old Town, Alexandria. A city block is closed off so folks can enjoy a few arts-and-crafts tents, the Friendship Firehouse Museum, and a real-life fire truck and ambulance.
This morning, A. is still very excited to remind us that she sat in a firetruck and saw an ambulance! And just check out her "Junion Firefighter" hat! As you might imagine, this is very serious stuff. And so exciting that it nearly rendered A. speechless during our lunch (but not E., who was very much a wiggle-worm during our rare lunch out).
Really, how do we top that this Sunday morning? Well, we don't. We can't. Besides, it's another hot and humid day in the District (turns out that this is the hottest summer on D.C.'s books - and I thought nothing could be worse than last summer. At least we're in good company - most of the country is suffering, yes?). A. is playing in the basement, I'm catching up on posts, M. is working a bit, and E. is drooling, rolling over, and napping. Happy Sunday!
