"Happy Cakeday!"

Where there is a birthday, there is cake. And who doesn't like cake? In our house, everyone does (presumably E., too). When my and Uncle R.'s September birthdays rolled around, we were ready for some chocolate-frosted yellow cake (a family favorite). Especially, A.

Halfway through the week, M. walked into the living room with the remaining third of the cake on its platter, as if to eat the whole thing. To my horror, he said that he planned to eat his fill and throw the rest out since it was "old". WHAT?! M. would do no such thing! We finish cake in this house. Period. I mean, it would be a crime to ditch so much cake, so soon. And so M. dutifully and kindly returned the cake to the kitchen, saving our dear dessert from dessertion. Phew. Let us eat cake!
